MrBeast: Career
History
Donaldson started his YouTube channel in 2012 at the age of 13 under the name "MrBeast6000"; he has produced a wide variety of content, from Lettersplay to videos in which he judged the wealth of other YouTubers. However, his videos have remained in relative obscurity - an average of about one thousand views each - before the release of his "count to 100,000" in 2017, which was attended by tens of thousands of views in just a few days.
As of October
2020, Jimmy has more than 44 million subscribers on YouTube, it is controlled
based in Dallas company Night Media talent management.
Content and
Style
Jimmy often makes videos that donate thousands of dollars to streamers on Twitch, many of which are sponsored (although in the past he did not sponsor donations).
In January 2017, Donaldson posted a nearly one-day video that counted to 100,000. The experiment took him 40 hours, so he sped up some parts to fit under 24 hours. Donaldson missed numbers 81933 and 99913 and 24219 counted three times.
A subsequent video titled "Counting to 200 000 (one million Road)" was uploaded in the next month, according to youtube, it also had to speed up, because the full fifty-five hours exceeded the YouTube upload limit. Jimmy also tried to break the glass using a hundred megaphones, he watched the paint dry for an hour and tried unsuccessfully to spin the spinner during the day.
In March 2019, he organized and directed in Los Angeles Battle-Royale
in real life with a prize of 200,000 dollars.
Donaldson publishes his unusual acts of charity: $ 100,000 donation to homeless shelters in December 2018 $ 32,000 donation to the Army Injured Veterans Program, $ 70,000 to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and 10 thousand dollars to the local animal shelter in Los Angeles.
During the battle between PewDiePie and the T-Series to be the most-watched YouTube channel, MrBeast bought billboards and radio ads to help PewDiePie gain more subscribers than the T-Series; at Super Bowl Llllhe and his assistants, whose clothes said "Sub 2 PewDiePie", bought several places. Donaldson also uploaded a video, which is the non-musical zalaykannym video, and 17th on the video as a whole as of 15 December 2019.
MrBeast: Criticism
In May 2018, Donaldson was criticized by Taylor Lorenz of The Atlantic for his allegedly homophobic tweets, which contained words like "f*ck" and " gay " in a derogatory manner. He stated that "I do not offend anyone in any way, no matter what I do".

Donaldson began producing YouTube videos in 2012 at the age of 13 under the name MrBeast6000, ranging from Let's Plays to "guessing how much money other YouTubers have". However, his videos achieved relatively few views until he published the “count to a hundred thousand” video in 2017, which “achieved tens of thousands of views in just a few days”.
In October 2020 he has a total of over 45 million subscribers.
MrBeast: Format
Donaldson's videos are often stunts that get a lot of attention. He occasionally makes videos in which he donates large sums of money to Twitch streamers.
In
other videos, for example, he filmed watching paint dry or recorded counting to
100,000 in 40 hours.
Donaldson often donates money to nonprofits in his videos, such as: For example, he donated $ 100,000 to a homeless shelter, $ 10,000 to a local animal shelter, and $ 70,000 to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital.
MrBeast: Fundraiser #TeamTrees
The project was spurred on by comments on Reddit and Twitter that Donaldson should celebrate reaching 20 million YouTube subscribers by planting 20 million trees. Donaldson also stated in his announcement that he would like to use the project to pay for any environmental pollution caused by him from previous projects.
On October 25, 2019, Donaldson started a
global fundraising campaign under the name "#Teamtrees" in
cooperation with ex- NASA engineer Mark Rober. The goal was to
raise US $ 20 million in donations for the Arbor Day Foundation by
2020. The money was to flow directly into the project, as the organization
agreed to plant a total of 20 million trees by 2022 at a rate of one tree for
one US dollar.
The project was supported by YouTube personalities such as PewDiePie, Marques Brownlee, SmarterEveryDay, Ijustine, and many more. As a result, the project received greater media attention and a wide reach. The project was also well received beyond YouTube, with $ 5 million donated after just 48 hours.
In addition to donations from the community, the project also received donations of larger sums between 50,000 and 1 million US dollars from celebrities and entrepreneurs such as Elon Musk, Jack Dorsey, Tobias Lütke, and Susan Wojcicki. Ukraine has donated money to the project. The YouTube platform, which is essential for the dissemination and success of the project, also made a significant financial contribution, including by waiving fees for donations made to the project via YouTube.
On December 19, 2019, the
campaign reached its target of $ 20 million, 12 days before the call for funds
ended. Nine days later, MrBeast announced in a video that he might turn
TeamTrees into an annual fundraiser.
