Aaron Rodgers

Aaron Charles Rodgers , born onto Chico in the state of California to the United States , is a professional player American of American football plays as of quarterback for the Green Bay Packers in the National Football League (NFL).

Rodgers played at the college level for the California Golden Bears , where he broke several records for his position. He was selected in the first round of the draft 2005 NFL by the frankness of the Green Bay Packers . A late holder, spent his first three seasons in the shadow of Brett Favre , he is often considered one of the best quarterbacks during the 2010s, and stands out for being very precise in his passes and frequently avoiding interceptions .

He has a solid track record, having won Super Bowl XLV in which he was named best player , having been voted best player in the 2011 , 2014 and 2020 seasons , and having received nine Pro Bowl selections He was also named Sportsman of the Year by the Associated Press in 2011. He is often considered one of the best quarterbacks of all time.

High school

Rodgers attended Pleasant Valley High School in his hometown of Chico. During his school days he was the starting quarterback for two years, throwing passes for 4,421 passing yards . He set several school records. For one, he threw six touchdowns in a game and scored 440 yards. He also set a season school record with 2,466 yards. In his senior season , he also played as a pitcher for the baseball team in high school.

College

Institute

He attended Pleasant Valley High School in Chico , California , had 4,419 yards, in two years as a starting quarterback . He holds the record for the most touchdowns in a game with 6, the most yards in a season with 2,466 total yards.

Rodgers generated little interest for First Division Universities, only the University of Illinois offered him a scholarship, which he turned down, to attend Butte College, with the opportunity to be transferred to the First Division. There he was seen by head coach Jeff Tedford, who in 2003 transferred him to the University of California .

University

Rodgers was named the quarterback for the California Golden Bears in Game 5 of the 2003 season, against the university that offered him scholarship, Illinois. He helped lead the Golden Bears to an 8-6 season, including a big win over USC in overtime, in his second game as a starter, he beat Virginia Tech in the Insight Bowl . In 2003, Rodgers tied the college's mark for the most games with more than 300 yards, with 5, and had the record for the fewest percentage of intercepted passes, with 1.43%.

In the following season, he led California to fourth place in the rankings. The Bears only lost one game that season, to the No. 1 ranked Trojans. It was a very even game that ended 23-17 in favor of the Trojans. In that game, Rodgers had the record for the most completions in a row, with 26; also the one with the best percentage of complete passes, with 85.3%; and tied the NCAA record with 23 consecutive completions in a single game. He holds the record for the lowest percentage of passes intercepted, with 1.95%.

With California he played the Holiday Bowl , after being left out of the Rose Bowl in a very controversial way. In the Holiday Bowl they lost to Texas Tech 45-31. After that game Rodgers entered the 2005 Draft .

NFL of Aaron Rodgers

Rodgers was selected in the first round, in 24th place, by the Green Bay Packers in the 2005 NFL Draft . He was the second quarterback to be selected ( Alex Smith was the first player to be drafted by the San Francisco 49ers ). In his first three years in the NFL, however, he had to be satisfied with the role of substitute behind Brett Favre and only came to short appearances.

After Brett Favre announced his resignation on March 4, 2008, head coach Mike McCarthy made Aaron Rodgers the new starting quarterback for the Packers. It also fits that the Packers engaged two rookies in the quarterback position with Brian Brohm and Matt Flynn in the 2008 draft and deliberately refrained from hiring an experienced NFL quarterback. At this point of view of the club and the coaches, Favre's "resignation from resignation" in August did not change anything.

Favre was given to the New York Jets after some squabbling , and Rodgers remained a starter. On September 8, 2008, Rodgers made his debut as a starter in Monday Night Football against the Minnesota Vikings at home in Lambeau Field . He was the first starting quarterback for the Packers since 1992, whose name was not Brett Favre. Rodgers played solidly, delivering 18 of his 22 passes for 178 yards and a touchdown. He also contributed a run touchdown to his team's 24:19 victory.

His second start at the game in Detroit also ended with a success. Rodgers threw more than 300 yards for the first time in a game, scoring three touchdowns without allowing himself to interception . For this he was voted FedEx Air Player of the Week in the weekly vote On October 31, 2008, the Packers extended the contract with Rodgers prematurely by six years, with a contract volume of 65 million US dollars. The rest of the season was generally seen unsatisfactory.

Rodgers played at a good level (he achieved a quarterback rating of 93.8), but many games were just lost. In the end, the Packers had a record of six wins and ten defeats, although a positive point ratio of 419: 380 was achieved. In addition, Rodgers was only the second quarterback in the NFL after Kurt Warner in 1999 to gain more than 4,000 yards of space through passes in his first season as a starter.

2009

2010 The 2009 season marked the breakthrough for Rodgers. Among other things, he earned a quarterback rating of 103.2 and threw only seven interceptions . He led the team into the play-offs , but in which they were defeated in the wildcard game against the Arizona Cardinals with 45:51. The reward for the successful season was Rodger's first-time appointment to the Pro Bowl .

In the following 2010 season , Rodgers secured another wildcard with the Packers. After a cautious start with three wins from the first six games, the team around Rodgers improved and ended the season with a score of 10: 6, making them the 6th team of the National Football Conference (NFC) to reach the play-offs. Rodgers finished the season with a quarterback rating of 101.2 for 3,922 yards. In the wildcard game, the Packers met the Philadelphia Eagles , which they defeated 21:16. Acted as a clear underdog, the Packers now went into the game against the Atlanta Falcons who were the NFC's best team that season.

The Packers won the game surprisingly clearly with 48:21. The outstanding man on the field was Aaron Rodgers, who brought 31 of his 36 passes for a total of 366 yards and three touchdowns to the man in this game. He also got a touchdown himself. In the NFC Championship Game , the Packers met the Chicago Bears on January 23, 2011 The game ended 21:14 in favor of Green Bay, bringing Rodgers to his team in Super Bowl XLV against the Pittsburgh Steeler sled.

After the Packers had dominated the first half of the game and led at 21:10 at halftime, the Steelers came back more and more into the game in the second half, but could not make up the deficit at any point. Rodgers threw passes for 304 yards and three touchdowns. The Packers won the game by 31:25. Rodgers was subsequently voted the Super Bowl MVP .

Rodgers held two new NFL career records after the 2010 season with a quarterback rating of 98.4 and an interception rate of just 2.0 percent.

2011

With a quarterback rating of 122.5, Rodgers broke the record for the best rating of a season in the 2011 season. The previous record was set by Peyton Manning in 2004 and was 121.1. Rodgers led the Green Bay Packers to a record of 15-1 wins in the regular season and threw passes for 4,643 yards and 45 touchdowns - a new team record - with just six interceptions. He also ran to three touchdowns himself.

He did not play the last game of the regular season, as the Packers had already secured a home game advantage for the entire play-offs and spared key players. In the play-offs, the Green Bay Packers received the New York GiantsAaron Rodgers threw 26 full passes in 46 tries and two touchdowns, but also one interception. The Packers were subject to the Giants 37:20.

On February 4, 2012, Rodgers was voted the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2011 season by members of the press He is the first Green Bay Packers player since Brett Favre 1997 to receive this title. Of 50 votes cast Rodgers was 48 and thus could clearly against Drew Brees prevail, who got the remaining two votes.

2012

At the start of the 2012 season, Rodgers made a bet with the Boyz II Men group , according to which the group would have sung the national anthem before the next home game if they had won their first game of the season. Since the game against the 49ers ended with a 30:22 defeat, Rodgers had to wear a jersey from the then 49ers quarterback Alex Smith for the next training session .

In weeks 4 (319 yards, 6 touchdowns and 1 interception) and 6 he won the award as NFC Offensive Player of the Week and in October with 17 touchdowns in five games the award as NFC Offensive Player of the Month. That season, Rodgers achieved a quarterback rating of 108.0 and took the Packers to the top of NFC North for the second year in a row.

The playoffs began with a 24:10 win in the Wild Card Round against the Minnesota Vikings , Rodgers came on 23 of 33 passes and 274 yards. In the Divisional Round, the Packers had to admit defeat to the 49ers with 45:31 Rodgers reached 257 yards and scored two touchdowns and one interception. He was also for the third time in his career for the Pro Bowl nominated.

2013

On the 13th matchday of the 2013 season in the 23:14 win against the Minnesota Vikings at home in Lambeau Field, Rodgers threw only one touchdown, but he broke a 50-year-old NFL record for Johnny Unit as . Rodgers threw at least one touchdown pass for 35 home games in a row. Unit as had set the previous record between 1956 and 1962 at its home Memorial Stadium in Baltimore .

In April 2013, the Packers extended the contract with Rodgers, which ran until 2014, for $ 110 million for another five years. This made him the highest paid player in the NFL, ahead of Joe Flacco .

In the game against the Chicago Bears in Week 9 of the 2013 season, Rodgers fractured his collarbone . This injury led to a several-week absence, which shook the Packers. Only with his return in the last game of the regular season were the Packers able to secure entry into the play-offs.

2014

After their loss to the Lions, the Packers went on a four-game win streak, during which, Rodgers threw 13 touchdowns with no interceptions. In Week 4, a 38–17 victory over the Chicago Bears, he had 302 passing yards and four touchdowns to earn NFC Offensive Player of the Week.] In Week 6, against the Miami Dolphins, Rodgers led the Packers to a game-winning drive with less than two minutes remaining. He completed a 4th & 10 pass to wide receiver Jordy Nelson and mimicked Dan Marino's famous fake spike play by completing a pass to wide receiver Davante Adams to get to within four yards of the end zone later in the drive.

Rodgers then completed a touchdown pass to tight end Andrew Quarless to win the game 27–24. This play would later win Rodgers the GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Year Award. In Week 7, a 38–17 victory over the Carolina Panthers, he was 19-of-22 for 255 passing yards and three touchdowns to earn NFC Offensive Player of the Week.

2015

With a quarterback rating of 92.7, the 2015 season was statistically his worst season as a starting quarterback . One of the reasons for this was the lack of his favorite playing station, Jordy Nelson , who was unable to play due to an injury. During the season, the Packers managed by a Hail Mary pass , however Rodgers one of the greatest comebacks in its history, which is why the game later than Miracle in Motown was known. With a 10-6 record, the play-offs were reached, where the Washington Redskins firstwere defeated.

The next game against the Cardinals was only decided in overtime, although it was only 13:20 for Arizona until shortly before the end. 55 and five seconds before the end of the game, Rodgers was able to put two Hail-Mary passes on Janis , through which the Packers could equalize at 20:20. However, little later they lost by a touchdown by Larry Fitzgerald .

2016

The 2016 season was very changeable for the Packers. After 10 games you were 4-6, but the last four games were lost. With this record you were only in third place in the division, which is why Rodgers and Head Coach McCarthy were heavily criticized. After the fourth loss in a row, Rodgers predicted in an interview that they would win the next six games. In fact, the Packers managed under Rodgers this winning streak, so you could still win the division. In the wildcard game they defeated the Giants 38:13, with Rodgers throwing a 42-yard Hail-Mary pass to Cobb at the end of the first half

The Dallas Cowboys could be defeated in the following game just 34:31, with Rodgers only 12 seconds before the end of the game with a 35-yard pass to Cook , Crosby was able to get into a promising field goal position. The following NFC Championship Game against the Atlanta Falcons was clearly lost with 21:44. With 40 thrown touchdowns, Rodgers threw the most in the regular season in 2016.

2017

In the 2017 season, Rodgers suffered another fracture of the collarbone on Matchday 6 against the Minnesota Vikings . Although it had been first feared that he could turn to the end of the regular season, he was already two months later, on 17 December at the game against the Carolina Panthers again as a starting quarterback on the field.

However, this was lost with 24:31, with Rodgers throwing 3 interceptions. The defeat, coupled with the Atlanta Falcons victory the next day, threw the Packers out of the play-off race and prompted the team to put Rodgers back on the injured list to allow his collarbone to heal completely.

2018

At the beginning of the 2018 season, Aaron Rodgers extended his contract with the Green Bay Packers, which ran until 2020, to 2023. He will receive around $ 134 million for this.

In the first game of the season against the Chicago Bears Rodgers suffered a knee injury, but was able to accumulate again in the third quarter and led the Packers to a 24:23 win with 286 yards and three touchdowns. In the quarter game he managed his first interception after 150 attempts and in Week 16 against the New York Jets he scored 442 passing yards and four touchdowns.

On December 18, 2018, he was nominated for the seventh time for the Pro Bowl , but was unable to play due to his injury. The regular season ended with a concussion for Rodgers in the game against the Detroit Lions , but a subsequent check-up for symptoms in the hospital revealed no long-term consequences.

Rodgers thus closed the season with a 97.6 quarterback rating, 25 passing touchdowns and two interceptions. He also got the records for most consecutive passes without an interception and the lowest interception rate of his passes.
