Michael McCorkle "Mac" Jones (born on 5. September 1998 in Jacksonville , Florida is) a US American football poker players at the position of quarterback . He played college football for the Alabama Crimson Tide in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). In the 2020 season, Jones won the College Football Playoff National Championship Game with Alabama In the 2021 NFL Draft , Jones was selected in the first round by the New England  Patriots .

Early life and high school career 

On September 5, 1998, Michael McCorkle Jones was born to parents Gordon and Holly Jones, growing up in Jacksonville, Florida. His father played tennis at Florida State University and Flagler College. Mack's brother, Will, played football at Mercer University,  while his sister Sarah Jane played tennis for the College of Charleston. Jones began playing American football at the age of five, for which he was recognized as a Pop Warner Scholar. Jones would later play high school football at The Bowles School

College career

2017

Originally committed to the University of Kentucky, Jones accepted a scholarship offer from the University of Alabama. Jones arrived as an initial enrollment, but in 2017 his new season was re-launched. Jones was charged with driving under the influence (DUI) and was suspended for the following game against LSU. After the Crimson Tide threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns in the spring game, Jones was named the A-Day 

MVP.

2018

In the 2018 season, Jones appeared in 14 of the Crimson Tide's 15 matches, mostly as a holder on special teams. Jones added his name to the Alabama record book with the longest 94-yard touchdown pass to Jaylen Wadle, the second-most in school-history, in a win against Louisiana-Lafayette. 

2019

Jones began serving as QB for the second half of the 2019 season, when Tua Tagovailoa suffered a serious hip injury.  Jones made four starts for the Tide, beating Arkansas and West Carolina before Auburn fell in the Iron Bowl, despite throwing for four touchdowns and 335 yards. Jones then led Alabama to a 35–16 win over Michigan in the Citrus Bowl. Jones finished with 1,503 yards in 11 matches in 2019 with 14 TDs.

2020

With Tagovelloa departing for the 2020 NFL Draft, Jones will take over as Alabama's starting quarterback. In a game against the # 3 ranked Georgia Bulldogs, Jones threw for 417 yards and 4 touchdowns, giving Alabama a 41-24 win. On Halloween night, Jones and the Tide outscored Mississippi State 41–0. Jones threw for 291 yards and 4 TDs, all of which went to Devonta Smith. In the Iron Bowl against Auburn, Jones threw for 302 yards and 5 touchdowns. 

The following week, Jones threw for 385 yards and 4 touchdowns against the LSU Tigers. With this victory, the Tide secured a berth against the Florida Gators in the 2020 SEC Championship Game. There, Jones threw for 418 yards and 5 touchdowns, with Alabama winning 52–46. He was then selected to take on Notre Dame in the 2021 Rose Bowl semifinal game, where he issued four touchdown passes for a 31–14 victory.

Alabama would go on to win the 2021 College Football Playoff National Championship Game against the Ohio State Buckeyes 52-24, with Jones throwing 464 yards and 5 touchdowns. Jones would end the season throwing for 4,500 yards with 41 touchdowns and only 4 interceptions. He was named Davy O'Brien, Johnny Unitas Golden Arm and recipient of the Manning Awards. 

He was also named a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, which went to his teammate Devanta Smith, the first wide receiver to win the award since 1991. After the season, Jones announced that he would leave his senior year behind and enter the 20th NFL Draft.

Jones was drafted by the New England Patriots in the first round with the 15th overall pick after a short fall in the 2021 NFL Draft.
