Dilip Kumar has acted in the most number of films with actress " Vaijayanthimala ", where they have acted together in seven films including "Ganga Jamuna" from their own production. The understanding between the two of them was very good forever.

He was awarded the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India in 1991 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994 for his contributions to Indian cinema. His latest film was Kila (1998).

Critics hailed him as the greatest actor of all time in the history of Hindi cinema.

In a blog post, Amitabh Bachchan made a statement by choosing Dilip Kumar as the greatest actor of all time.

Early life

Dilip Kumar was born on 11 December 1922 in Khyber, Pakistan under the name of Muhammad Yusuf Khan to a Muslim aristocratic family.

His father Lala Golam Sarwar was a fruit trader who owned an orchard between Peshawar and Deolali (Maharashtra, India).

His mother's name is Ayesha Begum. Dilip Kumar started his early education at the prestigious Deolia Burns School near Nasik. Late in 1930, he moved to Mumbai with a family of 12 members.

Dilip Kumar left home in Pune in 1940 to work in a canteen run for British troops. He began his career as a canteen owner and a dried fruit supplier.

In 1943, actress Devika Rani and her husband Himanshu Rai, who owned "Bombay Talkies", tried to negotiate with Dilip Kumar in the blind military canteen in Pune and cast Dilip in the lead role in the 1944 film "Jowar Bhata" and entered the Bollywood industry by starring in the film.

Although his real name is Muhammad Yusuf Khan, Hindi writer Bhagwati Charan Burma gave him the screen name Dilip Kumar. It is believed that Dilip Kumar can speak different languages; Such as English, Hindi, Urdu, and Pashto languages.

Career

Dilip Kumar's first film "Jowar Bhata" (1944) went unnoticed which did not help him reach the pinnacle of fame, but later in 1946, "Jangu" opposite "Nur Jahan" gained wide acclaim with his first commercially successful film at the box office. His next major commercial success was "Shaheed" (1948).

He said that he co-starred with Raj Kapoor and Nargis in a love triangle that played a pivotal role in Mehboob Khan's 1949 plot. He played a successful business tragedy in the 1950s; Jogan (1950), Didar (1951), Daag (1952), Devdas (1955), Yehudi (1956), and Madhumati (1958).

He played the villain in Mehboob Khan's "Amar" (1954). This movie called him "King of Tragedy". As established on the screen.

He is for the movie "Spot" He was the first actor to win a Filmfare Best Actor Award and Devdas appeared before the award again for the film. She teamed up with many of the top popular actresses of the time, including Nargis, Kamini Kushal, Mina Kumari, Madhubala, and Vaijayanthimala.

Social status

Dilip Kumar has been active in trying to bring the people of India and Pakistan closer together. He was nominated as a member of the upper house of the Indian Parliament for a fixed term in the Rajya Sabha.

He was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994.

In 1996, he was awarded the Nishan-e-Imtiaz, the highest civilian award given by the government of Pakistan. He became the second Indian to receive this award. During the Kargil war, Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray said, "The country is citing the terrible aggression on Indian soil" so Dilip Kumar demanded the return of his Nishan-e-Imtiaz award. Dilip Kumar denies this, saying his translation:

This award has been given to me for humanitarian activities, which is dedicated to myself. I have worked for many years to bridge the cultural and communal gap between India and Pakistan, to help the poor. Politics and religion have created these boundaries.

I am struggling to unite the two countries no matter what I can do. Tell me, does it have anything to do with the Kargil conflict?

Personal life

Dilip Kumar performed Mecca Umrah in 2013 with his wife Saira Banu for the first time in his life. Dilip Kumar first fell in love with actress Kamini Kaushal, but they could not get married. He later fell in love with actress Madhubala, but their family opposed the marriage.
