Biography
Early years

He then entered the University of Manipal, where he received a degree in Electrical Engineering. Later, he moved with his family to the United States, where he obtained a master's degree in computer science from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Chicago at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Microsoft

In 1992, he joined Microsoft Corporation as Vice President of the Enterprise Division and Vice President of Research and Development ( R&D ) for the Online Services Division. Later, he held the position of President of the Servers and Tools Division. He led the integration of Microsoft SQL Server for Windows Server 2012, and Microsoft Visual Studio for Microsoft Azure cloud computing, which achieved 2013 revenue of more than $20 million.
Before being named CEO of the company, he was a vice president at Microsoft and executive vice president of the cloud computing group.
Following the resignation of Steve Ballmer, Nadella is the new CEO of Microsoft.
Alliances
Nadella's first days as CEO decided to change the direction of the company. He has also highlighted the openness to work with technology companies with which he competes, such as:
- Apple: Regarding the improvement of the performance of the Office applications for the macOS and iOS systems.
- Salesforce.com– Microsoft, and Salesforce have made a commitment to improving cloud services.
- IBM: to improve cloud services based on software developed by IBM and Microsoft's Azure.
- Dropbox to seamlessly enhance teams across desktop, web, and mobile.
- Linux: Microsoft joined Linux in pointing to the Open Source philosophy and in using the GNU/Linux system on Azure servers, which Nadella proclaimed "Microsoft ♥ Linux", which allowed Microsoft to join the Linux Foundation as a Platinum member in 2016.
With Nadella's remarks, Microsoft revised its mission statement to "empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more."
Compared to its founder, Bill Gates, of "a PC on every desk and in every home running Microsoft software," Nadella says it's a lasting mission rather than a temporary goal.
His primary goal has been to transform Microsoft's corporate culture into one that values continuous learning and growth. He has cited Carol Dweck's book Mindset: The New Psychology of Success as inspiration for this philosophy around a "growth mindset."
Acquisitions
Nadella's leadership at Microsoft included a series of high-profile acquisitions of other companies to redirect Microsoft's focus. His first major acquisition was of Mojang, a Swedish video game company known for the popular game Minecraft, an open-world building game, in addition to other underrated games like Cobalt and Caller's Bane. On September 21, 2020, he purchased ZeniMax Media, Inc. parent company of Bethesda Softworks for $7.5 billion, three times what they paid to acquire Mojang for $2.5 billion on September 15, 2014.
In the years since he became the company's CEO, Nadella is considered to have been a strong performer, with Microsoft shares having tripled in September 2018, with an annual growth rate of 27%.
