Katrina Kaif - Indian actress and model. One of the highest-paid actresses in India. Considered one of the most attractive celebrities in India from a media perspective.
Born in Hong Kong, she lived with her family in several countries before moving to London. She got her first job as a model in her teens and later continued her career as a fashion model. At a fashion show in London, she was noticed by director Kaizad Gustad and invited to the film " Boom " (2003), which failed at the box office.
She then starred in the Telugu film Princess Mallishwari (2004). She gained fame as an actress after the release of the films How I Loved (2005) with Salman Khan and Namaste London (2007) with Akshay Kumar. They were followed by a series of box office hits, although the actress was criticized for her acting, repetitive roles, and penchant for male-dominated films.
In 2009, she starred in the terrorism-related drama New York, which earned her a Filmfare Award nomination for Best Actress. The actress received the second nomination for this award for her role in the film "Mere Brother ki Dulhan" (2011).
In the following years, she took part in such box-office hits as “Ek the Tiger” (2012) and “Dhoom 3” (2013). Despite mixed reviews from critics of her acting skills, she has established herself as a commercially successful Hindi film actress
Biography
Katrina Kaif was born in Hong Kong on July 16, 1983. According to the actress, her father (Mohammed Kaif) is a British businessman from Kashmir, and her mother (Suzanne Turcott) is an English lawyer and philanthropist. The actress has three older sisters (Stephanie, Christina, and Natasha), three younger sisters (Melissa, Sonya, and Isabelle), and an older brother (Michael).
Isabelle Kaif is also a model and actress. Katrina's parents divorced when she was a child and her father moved to the United States. She said that her father did not influence her sisters when they were growing up and they were raised by their mother. Regarding the absence of a father in her life, Kaif said:
“When I see friends who have wonderful fathers, who, like pillars, support their families, I say if I only had one. But instead of complaining, I should be grateful for all the other things that I have ”.
Kaif says her mother
decided to “devote her life to social work,” which led to the family staying in
several countries for different periods:
During my growing up, we constantly moved: from Hong Kong, where I was born, to China then to Japan, and from Japan by ship to France ... after France - Switzerland, and I don't count many Eastern European countries, where we were only a few months, then Krakow in Poland ... after that, we went to Belgium then to Hawaii, where we stayed for a short time, and then moved to London.
Due to their frequent
travels, Katrina and her siblings were homeschooled. Although many people
think that she grew up in London, she lived there for only three years before
moving to India
Career
Model career and early years in cinema
At the age of fourteen, Kaif won a beauty pageant in Hawaii and got her first modeling job in a jewelry campaign. She went into modeling professionally already in London, working for independent agencies, and regularly appeared at London Fashion Week.
At the show, Kaif caught the attention of London-based director Kaizad Gustad. He chose her for her role in the Anglo-Indian erotic film Boom (2003), which also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Gulshan Grover, Jackie Shroff, Madhu Sapre, and Padma Lakshmi. ... While filming in India, Kaif received other offers and decided to stay in the country.
In
2003, she began a successful modeling career in India, advertising brands such
as Coca-Cola, LG Group Fevicol, and Samsung.
After the failure of her first project in Bollywood Kaif starred in the Telugu film Princess Mallishwari (2004) starring Venkatesh. The actress was paid ₹ 7.5 million ($ 120,000), the highest salary for a South Indian actress at the time. Despite negative reviews for its acting, Princess Malliswary became a lucrative film. Award for Breakthrough of the Year.

film received mostly negative reviews, it turned out to be the second highest-grossing Indian film of 2007.
In 2008, the actress released three releases, the first of which was a thriller about two stepbrothers who are fighting for the inheritance of their father, where Kaif played the secretary of the older brother played by Saif Ali Khan, who is also the lover of the younger brother played by Akshay Khanna.
Film
critic Nihat Kazmi praised the film, praising it for "super cool looks and
testosterone-high action scenes." After Race, Katrina starred in King
Singh, which grossed ₹ 1.25 billion (the US $ 19 million) worldwide, making it
Katrina's sixth successful film.
Her next film, The Descendants, was a major box office flop. In preparation for her role as a cellist, she practiced playing with members of the orchestra. Sonya Chopra of the Sify website noted in her review: "Katrina is wonderful, plays the cello convincingly, and looks unearthly."
Despite the mixed reaction of film critics, the
film's script was added to the library of the Academy of Motion Picture
Arts and Sciences for its artistic merit.
In 2009, Katrina starred in New York with John Abraham and Neil Nitin Mukesh. In it, she played Maya, a college student who marries a terrorist. The actress said that she identifies with Maya as she experienced similar isolation due to her skin color when she lived in London. The film was successful and received positive reviews. New York earned her her first Filmfare Award nomination for Best Actress.
In the same year, she co-starred with Ranbir Kapoor in the hit movie "An Amazing Story of Strange Love ".
In 2010, the actress took part in the film "Politics", the cast of which included Ranbir Kapoor, Ajay Devgan, Arjun Rampal, Nana Patekar, and Manoj Bajpayee, and Sarah Thompson. The plot of the film is inspired by Mahabharata and Mario Puzo's novel The Godfather (1969).
Katrina Kaif then appeared with Akshay Kumar in the failed comedy "King of Deception", but received a positive rating for her acting and her performance on the song " Sheila Ki Jawani ".
The following year, Kaif
was paired with Hrithik Roshan in Life Can't Be Boring. The film was
a critical and commercial success and was one of the most award-winning films
of the year, receiving many awards for best film. She then starred in My
Brother's Bride opposite Imran Khan and Ali Zafar, for which she was
nominated for a second Filmfare Award.
Present time
In 2012, Kaif appeared in the dance number "Chikni Chameli" in the film " Path of Fire ". According to the actress, “It was hard work. It was very fast, and this is not the style that I am used to, but I took it as a challenge ”.
In
her next project, Kabir Khan's spy thriller There Was One Tiger, she acted as a
Pakistani intelligence agent who falls in love with an Indian agent. The
film earned 3.1 billion rupees (48 million dollars), becoming the highest-grossing
film of the year in India.
In the same year, Kaif co-starred with Annushka Sharma and Shah Rukh Khan in Yash Chopra's film " While I'm Alive ". On working with Chopra, she says he “is undoubtedly the king of romance, and I have always admired the way he presents his heroines.
It was always a
dream to work with him, and the reality turned out to be even better ”. From
a commercial point of view, the film turned out to be a box-office hit with an income of 2.1 billion rupees ($ 33 million) in the world.
In 2013, she played the
role of a circus performer in the action movie " Bikers 3 " with Aamir Khan in the title
role. To prepare for filming, she took a one-year course in Pilates, functional
training, and overhead belts. The film received mixed reviews,

Day,” Katrina played the role of a bank administrator, who unwittingly finds
herself involved in the theft of a large diamond along with a secret agent
( Hrithik
Roshan ). Although
the film was a commercial success, financial analysts have noted that it did
not meet expectations at the box office.
In 2015, Katrina starred
in Phantom opposite Saif Ali Khan.
The following year, she
appeared in two films. In "Obsession" by Abhishek Kapoor, the
actress starred opposite Aditya Roy Kapoor and Tabu, dyeing her hair
scarlet for filming. Later that year, she starred in Nitya Mehra's love story,
See Again and Again, alongside Sidharth Malhotra. Both films
came out as critical and commercial flops.

In the same year, the film "The Tiger Lives " with Salman Khan was released, which became a sequel to " Once upon a time there was a tiger ", and, like the prequel, was a commercial success. 2018 turned out to be a disaster in her career, the reason for that is the small roles. This year the film "Gangs of the Hindostan" was released with Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, and Fatima Sana Shaikh in the lead roles.
Even though her character Suraya was announced as the main character, Katrina only appeared on the screen in two songs and a few more scenes, although during the pre-production of the film it was announced that she would play an English girl named Elizabeth. A month later, she appeared in the film Zero, starring Shah Rukh Khan.

I became friends with him when I was young and his personality made a strong impression on me. If I look back, I see its impact on my life, and it's amazing.
In 2009, while filming The Amazing Story of Strange Love, she became close to actor Ranbir Kapoor.
In 2010, they started dating. The actors initially denied their relationship, telling the media that they were just friends.
