Sondre Justad
Sondre Justad (born October 15, 1990 ) is a Norwegian pop singer and songwriter who publishes songs in the Norwegian language.
Life
Justad grew up in Henningsvær on the Lofoten archipelago . He attended a secondary school music line in Bodø. With the money he earned as a youth in fishing, he financed himself with musical instruments and recordings in a music studio owned by Jahn Teigen in Oslo.
At the age of 16, he published his own music for the first time. In 2014 he signed a deal with the music label Petroleum Records and he moved to Oslo. With the song Nu har du mæ he managed to be played more frequently on the radio for the first time. Singles Det e over , Tilbake and Riv i hjertet followed .
The latter became the most played song in Norwegian in 2015. In October 2015 he released his debut album Riv I hjertet, which reached sixth place in the Norwegian music charts and was nominated for the Spellemannprisen.
The critic Marius
Asp from radio station NRK
P3 gave the album three out of six points and criticized, among
other things, that there was no surprising twist.
In 2016 he released the song Tida vi bare VA and in 2017 he released the single Ingenting on Paradis. His second album Ingenting I Paradis reached number four on the Norwegian Albums Chart in 2018.
In a review by Torgrim Øyre at Dagbladet, the album received four out of a possible six points. Øystein Ingebrigtsen of the Lofotposten newspaper gave it a five out of six, noting that several new approaches and surprises were possible. In the summer of 2019, he embarked on a tour of Norway, during which he appeared at 24 festivals.
He then announced
that he was now concentrating on new music and that he would not be performing
for a long time. In 2021, he returned after two years
with the single Sorry, co-recorded with rapper Musti. His third album En anna mæ followed in
March 2022.
In
March 2018, he revealed on Anne Lindmo's talk
show Lindmo that he was bisexual.
Style and
Commitment
Justad
is more often compared to the Swedish singer Håkan Hellström because they both
connected everyday and personal problems with melodic pop music. Sondre Justad himself stated that the
Swede is an inspiration for his music. Other role models include Oskar Linnros, Daniel Adams-Ray, and Veronica Maggio.
Justad sings in his northern Norwegian dialect. He is politically active for his homeland of Lofoten and, among other things, wearing a T-shirt in an election program on Norwegian radio Norsk Rikskring Kasting (NRK), on which he condemned plans for oil production in his homeland. In January 2020, he criticized the then energy and oil minister, Sylvi Listhaug, for issuing licenses for further oil exploration.
