Shafali Verma (born 28 January 2004 in Haryana) is the youngest cricketer to represent India in T20 International cricket. Shafali Verma broke the 30-year-old record held by Sachin Tendulkar with his first international fifty at the age of 16. At the age of 15, Shafali Verma became the youngest cricketer to score her first international fifty at the age of 15.

Childhood and Education

Verma came to cricket through her father, who took her when she was nine to a Ranji Trophy match between Haryana and Mumbai, where Sachin Tendulkar is playing in his senior season. He then tried to enroll his daughter in cricket academies, but none in her district would accept girls. He then cut his daughter's hair and registered her as a boy. After some time, the situation changed, and the school created a girls' team.  At the age of 13, she became part of the Haryana U19 team. She went on to play nationally, scoring six centuries in runs in a 1923 season.  Among other things, she was able to convince at the Women's T20 Challenge 2019

As a result, she established herself in the team and was nominated for the 2020 ICC Women's T20 World Cup. There she started against Australia with 29 runs before she scored 39 runs in the second game against Bangladesh and was named Player of the Match.  She also received this award in the third game when she scored 46 runs against New Zealand and thus allowed India to qualify for the semi-finals.  Against Sri Lanka, she was able to score another 47 runs.  With this performance, she became the best WTwenty20 batter in the world in the ICC rankings guide In the final against Australia, Verma lost her wicket after just 2 runs and India lost the match by 85 runs.  Verma was India's top batter at the tournament.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it took a year until the next game. In the tour against South Africa, she was able to score a half-century over 60 runs.  She was recognized as a player in the series. A tour of England was due in the summer and Verma made her debut in Test cricket and WODI. In her first test, she hit two half-centuries with 96 and 63 runs and was named Player of the Game.  In the subsequent tour in Australia, she was able to do half a century in the Wiest (52 runs  ) and in the third WODI (56 runs ) achieve. As part of the tour, it was revealed that Verma was signed with the Sydney Sixers for the 2021-22 Women's Big Bash League
